The Road February 9, 2010

Posted by Sean Welsh in reviews.

I went to see this last week. Gutting movie but excellent. One of the most moving pictures I have seen in my life. It was completely faithful to the spirit of book, one of Cormac McCarthy’s finest.

Cormac McCarthy is a writer I hold in very high regard. He is the only writer who I will buy without bothering to look inside if he has a new release. The other two films based on his books have been less successful in my view. All the Pretty Horses disappointed. No Country for Old Men was a very good film but fell slightly short of the excellence of the book. As a film The Road was deep, moving, scary, poignant and filled with desperate love.

Highly recommended.
